
Hey there! I'm Jun—a father, husband, cookbook author, and a chef turned full-time content creator.

My love for Japanese cuisine started at a very early age. Growing up in my family’s restaurant sparked my love for food and gave me the perfect platform to hone my culinary skills. My dad taught me the art of professional cooking, while my mom showed me the magic of home-cooked meals.
After college, I packed my bags and moved to Japan as an English teacher through the JET program, where I fell even deeper in love with the food and culture.
Fast forward a few years, I started The Sushi Man catering company, which we ran for over 10 years. Catering everything from intimate omakase style dinners to VIP lounges at NBA games. Then… the pandemic hit. One day we're catering non-stop events, the next we're just fishing for ideas. So, we had to get creative. That's when we launched our in-home sushi-making kits and along with it, my first YouTube video to teach people how to roll sushi at home. That video unexpectedly blew up, and just like that, The Sushi Man YouTube channel was born.
Now, I’m focused on sharing my love for sushi and Japanese cooking through my YouTube channel and here on this blog. My goal is to help people make restaurant-quality sushi and other Japanese dishes while keeping it simple and less intimidating. Because Japanese cuisine should be enjoyed by everyone.
